Winter Romance
When I was a young woman, the two simple words “Winter Romance” had a much different meaning than it does now. Today, I find romance in so many different things. The soft glow of an antique boudoir lamp, the faint etching of roses on a glass vase. An eiderdown comforter, with a covering of pink roses, folded at the foot of my bed.
When I hear the words winter romance, it conjures up images of creamy white roses, arranged in an antique cut-work glass vase. A soft fire glowing, the fire light dancing off the teardrop crystals that drape from the chandelier. A book of old poems, laying in wait upon a beautifully restored, needlepoint pillow.
An heirloom bracelet, with clusters of pink roses, or something as simple as a soft dusting of snow, beyond the warmth of creamy velvet drapes, is enough to capture the feeling of a winter romance.
