Show and Tell Monday

This past week and weekend I have been trying to organize my work space.  I have lots of stuff!  I am also a magazine hoarder.  I can't bear to part with any of them, so they got tied up with ribbon and stored on a shelf for the time being.  I also corralled some pieces of mosaic tile and other do-dads in glass jars.  Lastly, my sewing table which is a work in progress...

"Show & Tell Monday"

Finally, my creative juices are beginning to flow again.  For the last few weeks I have been in a funk.  Well, this weekend, between rain drops, I started to paint my outdoor furniture.  Today the sun is shining so I hope to finish the glider, then start on the matching chair.  This is very light lavender paint, I wanted to liven up my deck space, so instead of white or pink I went a little wild!

Julia, Where Are You?

Why I'm on the deck enjoying the morning.  These beautiful handmade dolls are available at Colby's Etsy Shop.  The attention to detail is amazing and the expressions on her dolls face are precious.  If your looking for quality handmade items you won't go wrong by stopping by and taking a look around.

Potpourri Anyone?

Where's the best place to go for homemade, old-fashioned potpourri, why Patricia Rose of course.  Pat has a boutique at Make Mine Pink and let me tell you, this potpourri is fabulous.  She offers not only potpourri but sachets, totes and aprons.  If you get a chance stop by and have a peek at her Little Pink Boutique, you won't be disappointed.

"Show & Tell" Monday

This was a big weekend for our family.  We finally caved in and got our girls their first puppy.  He is a very sweet Chesapeake Lab, eight weeks old and full of energy.  His name is Bernie.  I have to admit, It is almost like having a newborn in the house, but who could resist those sweet puppy dog eyes?

It's Recipe Thursday

Some of my fondest memories are of helping my mom mom (thats what I called my sweet grandmother) in the kitchen.  Today I am going to share with you one of her recipes.  Although it is not original to her I can remember making it with her on more than one occasion.
Nun's Cake
3 Cups sifted Swans Down Cake Flour
2 Teaspoons Calumet Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Butter
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
2 Eggs Unbeaten
3 Egg Yolks Unbeaten
3/4 Cup Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
Sift flour measure add baking powder and salt and sift three times.  Cream butter, add sugar gradually and cream together till light and fluffy.  Add eggs and egg yolks one at a time beating well after each addition.  Add flour alternately with milk and flavoring.  Turn into greased pans lined with greased paper.  Bake in 350 degree oven one hour and fifteen minutes or until well done.
There you have it, simple and simply delicious.  I typed word for word her directions, so they may not make perfect sense to us, but they made perfect sense to her.
Happy Mother's Day!

It's Show and Tell Monday!

Here are a couple of pictures of a mosaic tray that I created.  If all goes as planned I will be adding it to my site some time today.  It is simple in design, with only white ceramic tiles, and a handful of the rose tiles.  It would look great on your vanity table or dresser or in the dining room on a shabby white sideboard.  I did not polish the silver, just buffed it.  I loved the patina.  Please click on the pictures for a better view.  One of these days I will figure out how to make the pictures larger in the post.

"Show & Tell Monday"

I can't believe another week has gone by.  Wow, I really need to start blogging more.  Here are a couple of things that I have been working on. This thrift store clipboard is getting gussied up and a vintage card file is also getting a makeover.  I am hoping to finish these projects up this week.
